Help build a display that honours survivors, remembers those we have lost, and speaks out against gender-based violence.
The VIU Students’ Union and VIU Faculty Association present the Clothesline Project, part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. T-shirts carry messages from survivors and allies, with each colour representing a different form of gender-based violence.
Join us on November 25, from 11 am–1 pm outside the Upper Cafeteria, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Students and community members are invited to write or create a message on a blank shirt and add it to the display. Share words of support, remembrance, or solidarity, connect with community organizations including AVI Nanaimo, and enjoy free coffee.
The display will remain up until December 2. Stop by to read the messages, reflect, and stand in solidarity with those impacted by gender-based violence.
Support is available: If you have been impacted by gender-based violence, contact the Haven Society Crisis Line for 24/7 support at 1-888-756-0616.
