Traditional Craft & Foodways Society

Campus: Nanaimo

The Traditional Craft & Foodways Society is a student-led club focused on hands-on learning of traditional skills and foodways connected to both land and sea. Through workshops, outdoor activities, and peer-led skill sharing, members explore practices such as fishing, foraging, food preparation, crafting, and other seasonal skills rooted in local ecosystems.

We meet regularly throughout the year, with activities ranging from on-campus workshops to off-campus field sessions around Vancouver Island. Events are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly and vary with the seasons.

Students can get involved by joining our Discord (where all of our communication/planning takes place) or attending any event — no prior experience is required. Beginners and experienced members alike are welcome.
