The National Day of Action is a national event that is organized by the Student Movement (Canadian Federation of Students). The day of action brings national, provincial and local attention to the chronic underfunding of post secondary education, the dramatic increase in student debt and the need to improve the accessibility of the public post-secondary education system. Our events will focus on action to bring the voice of students to government decision makers. In addition, the event will provide entertainment and food for student participants.

Lunar New Year is a traditional and the most important festival in China, family get together and celebrate it for 15 days long, it always start in Spring time, VIU has now been hold Lunar New Year festival over 6 times, which almost become a traditional event in VIU. The main goal for Lunar New Year celebration in VIU is to gather all Chinese students together to share the greatest culture experience with people from different background, and have fun together! For the coming 2012, VIU Chinese Club willing to continue this tradition by hold the festival the second time. We are looking for to have more fun together, and make the Lunar new Year theme as a fun Carnival afternoon. It going to be Chinese culture display booth, fun traditional Chinese games, and traditional performances, and Chinese snacks will be providing.

Come celebrate the beginning of a new semester with live music, fire dancing, ice carving, hot tubs, snow cones, hot chocolate and more!

Free movie night showing of BRIDESMAIDS. Free popcorn will be provided and bring a cup for free hot chocolate.

Free skate night! Please bring your student card and your best ice skating skills. Skate rentals are included, so no skates, no problem! Need a ride? The Students' Union is running a free shuttle bus from the University. Sign-up for a seat on the bus at the Residence Office. Last year the event was so popular that we filled the ice to capacity...so this year, come early and don't miss out.

The meeting is for members of the Students' Union and will include the presentation of the annual audited financial statements, presentation of the Students' Union annual report and the reappointment of the auditing firm. Bring your student identification to participate.
